  instruction sheet extraction tools 1804175- 1, 1804176- 1, and 1804177- 1 for chicklets of z- pack* 408--10057 loc b 1 of 2 e 2009 tyco electronics corporation, harrisburg, pa all international rights reserved te logo and tyco electronics are trademarks. *trademark. other products, logos, and company names used are the property of their respective owners. tooling assistance center 1--800--722-- 1111 product information 1--800--522--6752 this controlled document is subject to change. for latest revision and regional customer service, visit our website at www.tycoelectronics.com 10 sep 09 rev b hard metric (hm)- zd right- angle headers insertion leg support leg extraction tool right--angle header 1804175--1 2--pair 1804176--1 3--pair 1804177--1 4--pair figure 1 1. introduction the extraction tools listed in figure 1 are designed to remove individual chicklets of z--pack hm--zd right--angle headers from the printed circuit (pc) board. reasons for reissue of this instruction sheet are provided in section 6, revision summary. 2. description each extraction tool features an insertion leg with a slot designed to straddle the row of contacts, and a support leg that supports the back of the chicklet during extraction. 3. extraction procedure 1. refer to instruction sheet 408--10055, and remove the housing from the pc board. the housing of the right--angle header must be removed from the pc board before the chicklets can be removed. 2. position the extraction tool over the chicklet to be removed so that the support leg is aligned with the back of the chicklet and the row of contacts will enter the slot of the insertion leg. see figure 2, detail a. 3. press down evenly on the extraction tool until it bottoms on the chicklet. make sure that the row of contacts enters the slot of the insertion leg. 4. hold onto the pc board, and gently rock the extraction tool toward the front of the chicklet, creating interference (the chicklet will pivot out slightly). do not try to pull the chicklet straight off of the pc board; otherwise, the extraction tool will slip off of the chicklet. 5. continue to rock the extraction tool back--and-- forth until the chicklet lifts away from the pc board. 6. discard the chicklet. figure 2 press down rock extraction tool back--and--forth detail a detail b back of chicklet slot of insertion leg row of contacts insertion tool bottomed on chicklet pc board note i note i
